Herewith, an explanation of our raison d'être.

We've been eating crawfish in the backyard since 1993 when we met in the backyard of Don Schellhaas' daughter and son-in-law, but in 1999 we decided to turn our pastime into a cause célèbre.

To let you know the caliber of the organization with which you are now associated we would like to tell you some of the organizations with which we are affiliated.  We are, of course, affiliated with the state organization and are listed in it's Directory Of Official Decapod Aficionados (CRAPOLA-DOODA).  We also have casual relationships with the Croatian Organization Of Piscatology, The Destrehan Union Of Petites Ecrevisses and the Plaquemines Organization of Piscatology (COOP, DUPE and POOP).

Among our previous celebrity invitees (none of whom have ever attended) was Acapella Arceneau, the renowned diva of the Buras Civic Opera.  We try for class.

Our meteorologist (Humidity Trosclair) is certified by AFBTRM (Acadians Forecasting By The Rope Method).  We can explain that at the next meeting.

So you can see that we take our mission seriously and we would be delighted if you would like to help us to achieve our goal of eliminating the crawfish by eating ALL of them!!

There are no dues, and you need bring nothing but your appetite. If a guest’s  appetite (or allergies, etc.) preclude the eating of crawfish that guest still is welcome, but we make other arrangements to make sure no one goes home hungry.

Now, here are some pictures from our meetings:

Crapola 2007 (Crapola West II)

The Chalmette Clubhouse still wasn't up to par so Pam and Dooty once again made our west bank annex available.

Crapola 2006 (Crapola West)

Hurricane Katrina temporarily put the kibosh on the club headquarters in Chalmette, but Pam and Dooty Patron came to the rescue.  We moved the festivities to their home in  Algiers, their son, Guy, got the crawfish and cooked them, and we once again made a dent in the crawdad population.

Crapola 2005

On June 11, 23 hearty souls turned out for the 12th annual attempt to eradicate crustaceans by eating them.  Some progress was made.  Price of admission was non-perishable food items for the food bank, and the Servants of Christ in Chalmette were the beneficiaries.  Their thanks (and ours) to all who attended.

And some from 2003
(no earlier pictures have surfaced, yet,  but if they do (or if anyone else can make them available, I'll add them)

A late discovery ... A couple of pictures surfaced from a seafood party before the fete became Crapola. It was 1993 and it was held at the home of Jimmy and Donna Lee Exnicios (Don and Lee Schellhaas's daughter and son-in-law.  We don't know who took the pictures but probably it was Donna Lee. We estimate this was the second meeting.  We had had a crab boil at Jerry Sperier's house the year before.

That's me in the foreground (Before Iris).  Then around the table from the left: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hyde, Donald  Lindemann, Odette Sperier, Leonor Schellhaas
Melsy Saunders, Edgar Saunders, Don Schellhaas, Jerry Sperier, Lenore Lindemann and George Schellhaas.
